Hi everyone! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. My name is Jackie and I’m a Christian, a wife, a soon-to-be first time mother, and a pharmacist. Oh, and I love ice cream. I know that doesn’t really seem all that relevant to anything, but I really do, so in my eyes its very relevant.
You might be wondering what an apothecary is- that’s ok, its a term that is hardly used anymore. An apothecary is a pharmacist! A legal drug dealer, and that’s what I do! The world of pharmacy is an interesting one to say the least…if you’re ever at a party and meet a pharmacist, don’t leave their side. They will have you entertained the entire night with stories of interactions with their patients. Trust me on this one.
While pharmacy has made up a big part of my adult life and has provided me with a great job and great opportunities to serve my family and community, it’s definitely just a job to me and not my passion. In fact, I’m not much of an advocate for a lot of common prescribing practices these days, but that’s a story for another time.
I wasn’t really sure what I did have a passion for, until I got fed up with my face. I was in my mid 20’s and dealing with acne AND wrinkles. That just doesn’t seem fair! Acne is for teenagers and wrinkles are for over the hill type situations right?? Well, apparently not. Plus I started showing signs of mild rosacea. I didn’t want to pay for some expensive, fancy face cream that promised to either get rid of wrinkles OR help with acne OR maybe help with rosacea. (I am Cuban and we don’t typically prefer spend money on…well, anything).
So I did a little research of my own and decided I was going to make something for myself that would help with all three of my problems at a fraction of the price. And voila! An all natural anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti dryness, anti wrinkle, anti anything-and-everything-because-I-may-have-gone-overboard cream was born! And it worked WONDERFULLY!! I started seeing improvements in my skin within only a couple of days, and soon others started to notice too.
And so the passion began. Soon, I was really enjoying researching and coming up with simple solutions to common skin problems. I now make face creams, chapsticks, foot cream, face masks, scrubs, soaps and the list is ever growing! My skin has never looked and felt better.
The goal of Simplicity Apothecary is to inspire you to live a healthier life; what you put in your body and on your body counts. I don’t ever want to be an elitist skin care line that charges $48 for an ounce of who knows what. I make products I use myself and try to make them affordable so you can enjoy them too. I hope you enjoy SA products and benefit from the simple solution – nature is better!
